Shred Music is a Web site devoted to spotlighting new bands and releases, with the intention of creating a community of music fans of all kinds. It’s music writing from the point of view of a fan with the analytical eye of a journalist.

Types of content

Reviews: Shred reviews new music, with an emphasis on new bands and interesting sounds with less of an emphasis on Top 40 or MOR artists.

Features: There are basically three types of features in Shred:

Small Features. Written features around 500-800 words spotlighting something interesting about a particular artist.

Larger Features. This is a feature in the 1500-2000 word range that looks a little deeper into an artist and what makes them click. From time to time, Shred publishes The Shred Interview, where an artist is interviewed in a Q&A format.

Spotlight features. From time to time, there will be these editions, such as a look at a particular label and the artists on it, or a look at a particular genre or trend, such as vowel bands, industrial, etc.

Shred Letter: A periodic newsletter e-mailed to opt-in subscribers covering new features or upcoming promos. It comes out sporadically, only when there is something to report. Click here for more information or to subscribe.
